Cover Lust : Valkyrie Rising by Ingrid Paulson
When Ellie and her brother Graham are shipped off for a summer in Norway, she has no idea she's in for the adventure of her life. Her biggest worries are getting out from her perfect older brother’s shadow and concealing her crush on Graham's best friend, Tucker—who’s suddenly tagging along for the trip.
The moment Ellie sets foot in the small town of Skavapol, she stumbles into a mystery that will change her forever. Boys are disappearing under impossible circumstances, and kids in town blame her. When Graham is the next to be kidnapped by ferocious yet beautiful girls, something powerful and ancient awakens within her. Strange and terrifying forces are at work in their tiny corner of Norway and Ellie and Tucker are the only ones who stop them and rescue Graham.
Mhan...Haper has such awesome covers and awesome upcoming titles in 2012. I'm literally dying to read this book...waiting for the book is like waiting for rain in drought. I applaud author amazing thought of the plot. When I asked her where did she came up with such brilliant idea she said
" my favorite part about the book (personally) is that the idea came to me while I was on a trip to Norway to visit relatives with the women in my family: my aunt, cousin, and grandmother. Because the book is all about a girl coming into her own, it's fitting that it was inspired by a trip with some of the coolest women I know. "
Here is the exclusive longer book blurb for my lovely readers
Nothing ever happens in Norway. But at least Ellie knows what to expect when she visits her grandmother: a tranquil fishing village and long, slow summer days. And maybe she’ll finally get out from under the shadow of her way-too-perfect big brother, Graham, while she’s there.
What Ellie doesn’t anticipate is Graham’s infuriating best friend, Tuck, tagging along for the trip. Nor did she imagine boys going missing amid rumors of impossible kidnappings. Least of all does she expect something powerful and ancient to awaken in her and that strange whispers would urge Ellie to claim her place among mythological warriors. Instead of peace and quiet, there’s suddenly there’s a lot for a girl from L.A. to handle on a summer sojourn in Norway! And when Graham vanishes, it’s up to Ellie—and the ever-sarcastic, if undeniably alluring Tuck—to uncover the truth about all the disappearances and thwart the nefarious plan behind them.
Deadly legends, hidden identities, and tentative romance swirl together in one girl’s unexpectedly-epic coming of age.
Isn't it awesome. What do you think darlings?
