Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake
His friends remind him that Anna sacrificed herself so that Cas could live—not walk around half dead. He knows they're right, but in Cas's eyes, no living girl he meets can compare to the dead girl he fell in love with.
Now he's seeing Anna everywhere: sometimes when he's asleep and sometimes in waking nightmares. But something is very wrong...these aren't just daydreams. Anna seems tortured, torn apart in new and ever more gruesome ways every time she appears.
Cas doesn't know what happened to Anna when she disappeared into Hell, but he knows she doesn't deserve whatever is happening to her now. Anna saved Cas more than once, and it's time for him to return the favor.
My Rating : 5 of 5 stars
My Thoughts : This times not Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story...
This time Boy set a dangerous journey to the hell to bring the girl back but the question is will he be succeed?
“She crossed over death to call me. I crossed through Hell to find her.
It’s been months she has scarified herself for Cas and disappeared into hell. Cas couldn’t move on with his life as Anna kept invading in his dreams. Anna appeared less ghastly but more bloodied and tortured. So Cas was determined to find out what happened to Anna, and he plans for more….to bring her back.
“Cassio,” she whispers. “Get me out of here.”
As the sequel to the block blaster Anna Dressed In Blood, Girl of Nightmares bring us a story less gruesome but horrific in equal amount. Anna Dressed In Blood was one of my most favorite novel, and I admit I was little bit tensed up about the sequel. But Girl of Nightmares didn’t fail to satisfy my cravings for an excellent sequel and I feel relieved. This book has more pain, more action and romance part was also well executed, as Anna was roaming in hell and Cas resides on earth, they met mostly walking in each other’s dream. We experience Cas’s suffering with grief as he struggled with pain of losing the girl he loves and watching her being torn up and tortured in hell.
The amount of adventure and spookiness related to it really did surprise me. The trio encountered so many situations I never thought would come. Especially when Cas and Thomas turned to a Finnish witch for help without knowing she is actually dead, the moments in deep of suicide forest and the final journey of Cas in burning inferno to free the girl he loves. The ending was heart breaking but its probably for the best and keep the tone more realistic.
I have been starving from one year for the book to be released and it was entirely satisfying.
I found myself page flipping to find out what would happen next and I couldn’t stop myself from reading. If you are fan of dark and haunting tale of blood and love, Anna is your best friend to spend time with.
